Lifeboat Memorial, St Annes
Memorial to the crew of the St Annes lifeboat, Laura Janet
The 13 man crew of the lifeboat were lost in December 1886, along with 14 members of the Southport lifeboat (Eliza Fernley). They were going to the aid of the cargo vessel, the Mexico, which had ran aground during a storm in the Ribble Estuary. The monument was erected on the promenade in 1888.
